Overview:

York Entrepreneurship Development Institute offers a unique 12-month intensive program, called the Software Engineering & Management Diploma Program, which combines modern software development with the business and management skills needed in today’s rapidly evolving technology sector.

Through practical, applied learning in software engineering, artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, project management, and entrepreneurship, students develop job-ready skills to build innovative solutions and succeed in technology-driven organizations. It is designed for those seeking a career transition into the technology sector.

The program combines lectures, coaching, guided learning and interactive discussion sessions, allowing participants to personalize their learning experience while benefiting from direct engagement with industry-leading experts.

Program instructors and mentors include subject-matter experts and academics with both real-world entrepreneurial experience and technological background.

This Diploma program is approved as a vocational program under the Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005.

Program Details:

Duration: 12 months, 3 semesters

Weekly commitment: 20 hours (includes live classes and asynchronous guided learning hours)

Evening Schedule for Live Classes : 3-days per week (half-day)

Delivery Format (2027 Cohort): Online Only

Language of Instruction: English

Total program hours: 990 hours

Admission Requirements:

Academic

  • High school diploma or higher (Canadian or recognized in Canada)*
  • Bachelor’s Degree considered an asset
  • Transcript(s) from all previously attended post-secondary institutions if applicable

Non-Academic

  • Up-to-date resume
  • Successful YEDI due diligence, including interview

*Note: Applicants with non-Canadian academic credentials (High school Diploma, College Diploma, University Degree, etc.) will be required to complete a credential evaluation assessment recognized in Canada. For a list of possible credential evaluation services, please click the following link.

Program Fees:

International Students: $40,000

Canadian Students: $18,000.

A payment plan may be available

 

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE THROUGH GOVERNMENT FUNDING

The students may fund their education through Better Jobs Ontario from EI and WSIB. If you are looking for support, we can connect you with an agency.

STUDENT LINES OF CREDIT

Most major banks and credit unions offer student lines of credit to finance post secondary education. Please visit your financial institution to find out more information.

LIFELONG LEARNING PLAN

The Canada Revenue Agency Lifelong Learning Plan (LLP) allows you to withdraw amounts from your RRSP’s to finance your education for you or your spouse (or common law partner). You may withdraw up to $10,000 per year, and up to a total maximum of $20,000. REGISTERED EDUCATION SAVINGS PLANS

Students, who have been named a beneficiary under a family member’s Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP), may use funds from the RESP to finance their education at YEDI. EMPLOYER AND UNION SPONSORED EDUCATION PROGRAM

Some employers and unions provide education assistance and tuition re-imbursement programs for employees and children of employees. Check with your employer, or your parent’s employer(s), to see if they offer any education assistance or tuition re-imbursement programs that you may qualify for.

TAX RECEIPTS

Official Tax Receipt (T2202) is issued to each applicable student in February

FINANCIAL AID
