Mark Adler

Mark Adler is a strategic business advisor, accomplished entrepreneur, community leader, author and public servant.

Highly experienced in business development, early in his career, Mark served as a trade representative for the Government of Ontario in Boston, Massachusetts. Here he brought U.S. and Canadian businesses together for cross-border expansion, joint ventures, export growth and technology transfers. Following this, he was the Director of Corporate Programmes for the Canadian Institute of International Affairs, where he led delegations of Canadian business leaders to countries around the world for high level briefings from Heads of State, Prime Ministers, Presidents, Ministers, Governors of Central banks, business leaders and global influencers.

In 2003, Mark founded the Economic Club of Canada which quickly became the country’s podium of record. Drawing on his vast global network, he hosted both domestic and world leaders including Prime Minister Stephen Harper of Canada, President Vicente Fox of Mexico, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger of California, President of the United States, Bill Clinton, Republican Party nominee for President of the United States, Senator John McCain, Ukraine’s President, Viktor Yushchenko, just to name a few.

Elected to Canada’s House of Commons as a Member of Parliament in 2011, Mark was the first representative of his party to win his seat in over half a century. During this time, Mark served on the Standing Committee on Finance, where he took an active role in fiscal policy. He made regular appearances on nationally televised media panels speaking on economic policy and international affairs.

A noted expert on the challenges and opportunities posed by population aging, demographic change and immigration patterns, Mark recently published, Time Bomb: How the Aging Population Will Transform Our World. An accomplished public speaker, he is regularly requested by groups and media to provide expert opinion on demographics, politics, and economics.

Mark attended the University of Toronto where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Masters of Law. He is on the Board of Directors of the Ontario Society of Senior Citizen’s Organizations and Canada Forward which focuses on improving the lives of young people in Central and South America. He is the recipient of many awards and acknowledgements including the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal. Mark currently lives in Toronto, Canada, with his wife Alison, their twin children, three dogs and one cat.
